How we check evidence
We check product facts against official sources. We do not test products ourselves. Every number we publish comes from a primary source we can link to. If we cannot trace a fact, we mark it "not verified" instead of guessing.
Which sources count
- The brand's official label, packaging or specification page
- Government or regulator databases
- Published test reports from identifiable labs
- Retailer listings only for availability, never for performance claims
Text written by AI tools is never treated as a source. AI helps us draft wording; the numbers come from the data table.
How a fact is checked
- We record the value, unit, source link and the date we checked it.
- A person or an automated check confirms the value matches the source.
- Only facts marked verified appear in tables. Everything else shows as "not verified".
- Before publishing, a checker compares every number in the article with the data and blocks mismatches.
What we do not do
- We do not invent hands-on experiences, reviews or star ratings.
- We do not show prices until we can pull them from an official retailer API.
- We do not make health or medical claims beyond what a product label states. For sunscreens sold in the US (regulated as OTC drugs), we only report the labeled SPF and labeled claims.
- Affiliate commissions never change a value in our tables.
Corrections
If a fact is wrong or outdated, it is corrected in the data and every page using it is rebuilt. Each page shows when its data was last checked.
